Sign in and join your workspace

LabRuns runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install. To look around before you have an account, open the example study; Save this example walks you through sign-in and then saves the example, with the readings you chose, to your workspace.

  1. Select Start your free week or Sign in on the home page and enter your email address.
  2. Open the email titled Your LabRuns sign-in code and enter its eight-digit code within ten minutes. Each code works only once; if you need another, choose send a new code.
  3. The first time you sign in, read the linked Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, including the rule that patient health information never goes into LabRuns. Tick the agreement box and select Agree and continue. You are asked again if the Terms or Privacy Policy changes.

Your first sign-in creates your account and claims any institutional license assigned to that exact email. Unless a colleague has invited you to a workspace, it opens a private My laboratory workspace with you as its Owner. A new institution's free week begins with its first workspace. Current plan members can create their own private workspaces without checkout. Rename a workspace in Settings > Workspace.

An empty workspace opens on Start a study, which is where your first study begins.

Members share everything in the workspace. Each data version you save carries your email. A report you sign off identifies your account as Signed off by; Prepared by names the input saver when that is a different person. See organization roles.

You go straight to the workspace you last used in this browser. If you belong to one workspace, it opens in any browser. If you belong to several and have not chosen one in this browser, Your workspaces shows each workspace's study and member counts, plus its latest saved study. Expand More recent study changes for the other recent studies. Each entry names the project, who saved the study and when. Select a study's title to open its Data step directly, or Open to see its studies.

Account and invitations opens the Workspaces section whenever you want to catch up across your workspaces. Return opens the one marked Current workspace. Pending invitations appear above your workspaces; Institutions & plan and Profile & sign-in open the other account sections.

To switch workspaces, use Workspace at the bottom of the menu, or open Settings > Workspace. Settings also offers Create another workspace.

Ask the workspace Owner or an Administrator to invite the email you sign in with from Settings > Members. When they also administer your institution, the same step adds that email to the institution; otherwise an institution Administrator adds it first. No invitation email is sent, so ask them for the application link. Signing in with the assigned email claims the plan and creates your account if needed; you can create private workspaces under the same license.

At first sign-in, Account lists the invitation under Workspace invitations, with the workspace name, its owner's email and your role. Check that it is your laboratory, then select Join workspace to open its shared projects, studies and reports, or Decline. To begin private work, enter a Workspace name in Create workspace and select Create workspace. If you belong to more than one institution, choose the Institution first; each choice shows your role and the institution's other administrators. The invitation stays available on Account and your Studies page.

If you already have a workspace, a new invitation shows as a notice on the Studies page. Review invitation opens it. If you sign in before being invited, My laboratory is separate from your colleague's workspace. Use Check workspace invitations at the start of the empty workspace, or Account and invitations in Settings, then Check for invitations. Ask your laboratory's owner or administrator to invite the address shown there.

If you are removed from a workspace, you see a message the next time you open it. Ask its owner or an administrator to invite you again, open another workspace, or create your own with Create workspace.

Sessions last seven days from sign-in. On a shared computer, use Sign out in Settings > Account. Account > Profile & sign-in offers Sign out of all devices, the latest 20 sign-ins and an optional name for report sign-offs. Institutions & plan lists your institutions; current institution Administrators manage the subscription and enter the purchaser's business name and billing email in Stripe Checkout.

LabRuns backs up your work. To keep your own copies, download your reports, exports and original import files. See Reports and exports.
