Calculate results
The server calculates statistics from the saved study. Each calculation keeps the data, settings and acceptance limits it used.
Calculate or recalculate
Section titled “Calculate or recalculate”Choose Calculate results in the study header. It is the main button once the study has data, its required settings and a limit. It saves your edits, calculates and opens Results. When results are out of date, the button reads Recalculate results.
Fix what stops a calculation
Section titled “Fix what stops a calculation”If the calculation can't be done, a red message explains why. Your entries remain available for correction.
| Problem | What you see | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A required setting is missing | The Calculate results button reads Finish set up, and the line under the stage tabs names what is needed, for example Needed under Set up: analyte and unit. | Fill in the named settings on Set up. |
| A setting has an impossible value | The message names the setting, for example a decision level that is not a number. | Correct it on Set up. |
| Rows have a problem | Fix the marked rows before analysis. (in some study types, Resolve the marked rows before analysis.) A count above the grid offers Go to first entry and Show details; each affected row is marked Fix errors. | Correct the value, or exclude the row with a reason. See validation messages. |
| The data don't fit the design | The message names the level and what the design needs. | Check the study's Columns on its reference page. If the study type is wrong, create a new study. |
| No usable results | The message asks for at least one included result. | Enter or include results. |
| Someone else saved first | Their version loads with your unsaved edits on top, or a message names who saved. | See when someone else saved first. |
Each case is explained in analysis problems. Other problems let the calculation run. The result carries a study note or marks a statistic as not estimated, and any limit that depends on it is Undecided. See study notes and unavailable results.
Recalculate out-of-date results
Section titled “Recalculate out-of-date results”Any saved change to data, settings or limits puts the last result out of date: you see a Results out of date message (after a limit change, Acceptance limits changed after this calculation.), out of date on the Results tab and Results out of date in the project's study list. Choose Recalculate results. Recalculating adds a new calculation beside the earlier ones; calculating again with no change returns the same calculation. See About records and history.
Open an earlier calculation
Section titled “Open an earlier calculation”- On Results, choose it in the Calculation list, for example Calculated Sep 24, 2026, 20:42. The list appears once the study has more than one calculation.
- A warning names the calculation you are viewing. Choose Show latest calculation to return.
The Report stage opens on the latest calculation. The method statements and sources are under Methods and sources on Results; see Reading results.
