Save, discard or combine changes

LabRuns keeps your edits in your own draft. It records Set up edits when you change a field and Data edits while you type and move between cells. About records and history explains how drafts and versions relate.

Choose Save changes in More, or press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac). On Set up, Save and enter data saves and opens Data. Calculating, importing, signing off and New study from this setup save changes first. If a check fails, the message says what to fix and your entries stay available.

You can move between stages, leave the study and return to your draft. Back, Forward and reopening the study keep the edits that reached the server. Wait for a request to finish before closing a tab, especially when a connection error is shown.

The Workspace menu refuses a switch while the current study has unsaved changes. Save them or discard them first. If another tab switches workspaces, an action from the old tab is refused; switch back in the other tab or reload this page.

Choose Discard beside Unsaved changes in the header, or Discard changes in More, then confirm Discard changes in the dialog. This removes your draft and shows the saved study again. Keep editing closes the dialog and retains your edits. Earlier calculations and signed reports remain available in History.

Two people, or two of your own tabs, can have the same study open. Changes to different rows or settings are combined when you save. The comparison starts from the version your page opened, even if someone else saved before you began typing.

If you both changed the same value, Check the combined changes names the overlap. Your value is shown there, and the other saved changes are kept where your edits did not change them. If the other save removed a row you changed, the dialog says so and keeps your row at the end. This can happen when an import replaces the current rows. Remove your retained row if the new rows already include that result, so it is not counted twice. Choose Review first to check the study, or Save changes when the combined entries look right. Nothing is overwritten before this confirmation.

Without unsaved edits, calculating or signing off can stop with a message that someone saved a newer version. Reopen the current study and try again.

Open the project, then the study from its Overview or the menu. The address includes the stage and chosen calculation or report, so reloading, Back and bookmarks return to the same place. Your draft belongs to your sign-in account and workspace.

Display settings stay in this browser. Your optional name is stored with your account. New report sign-offs always identify the approving account.
